This book is for everyone who wants to know more about wool, knitting and Shetland. During our first trip to this Scottish archipelago we were inspired by its nature and its people, but most of all by the wonderful wool given to us by the small, tough Shetland sheep. This is the reason we want to tell the story behind Shetland wool and the knitting traditions of the Shetland isles. We wondered whether we still know what this represents, or whether we all refer to different things. The trail led us deeper and deeper into the Shetland hills to the source of the wool. Along the way we gathered lots of inspiration for our designs. We wanted to reflect the landscape in our projects, with real Shetland wool. We hope that many knitters want to join us on another journey, this time to Shetland!

ERRATA:

Skirt pattern page 40

First paragraph
First line: Cast on 152
(174) 200 stitches with BC.
Third line: Knit 3 rows with BC and at the same time
increase 2 stitches for the sizes S and M and decrease 2 stitches for size L after the ribbing 154-176-198 stitches.

Second paragraph
First line: After the chart, continue with BC and
decrease 2 stitches for sizes S and M (no decreases for size L), evenly distributed in the 3rd row. In row 14 (16) 18 place 6 markers, evenly distributed (there are 26 (29) 33 stitches between each marker). In the next row, knit 2 stitches together after every marker. Repeat this row with decreases 4 times every 8th (10th) 14th row (122 (144) 168 stitches in total.)

Baby sweater pattern page 64, left column, 3rd paragraph:
Continue with BC, start knitting in the round
and knit the first and last 4 (4) 5 (5) stitches in the CC together (closing the split opening).

Sweater pattern page 92:
Instructions: In order to make sure that the pattern repeat is correct for each of the charts, it is necessary to adjust the number of stitches between the different charts. Make sure that you have the original number of stitches on the needle again after having knit the last chart.

Size S for Fair Isle 308 becomes 306 (-2)
Size M for Fair Isle 352 becomes 354 (+2); for Orchid 352 becomes 350 (-2) Size L for Orchid 396 becomes 392 (-4)
Make these adjustments in the plain rows between the charts.

If you want the charts to be evenly distributed on the sweater, make sure that you start and end the charts in the same way on the imaginary side seams (the charts are mirrored at the side seams).

Top right column page 92: Size S: knit 50 stitches, bind off the next 54 stitches for the neck and knit to and fro from this point onwards.
Size M/L: at the end of 2nd line: Knit (61)72 stitches, bind off the next 54 stitches for the neck and knit to and fro from this point onwards.

Sleeves: 7th line: Increase 1 stitch at either side of the marker every fourth row.
