Vidde lamull yarn is spun in a unique blend of white lamswool and grey Norsk Pelsau wool. The yarn has a light melange and is dyed in 38 delicate colours in addition to natural white and natural gray. Vidde is loosely spun, but with good elasticity and it stays nice in ready-knitted garments. Vidde, Varde and Luna can be knitted together and the colours complement each other beautifully. The yarn is used in many knitting patterns, for example by Linka Neumann.

In the colour series of Vidde lamull yarn, Hillsevåg only used GOTS-approved dye. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) requires that dyes are biodegradable and non-toxic. The finished product may not contain allergens or residues of hazardous chemicals. GOTS-approved dye is permitted in organic production of yarn and textiles.

100 g = approx. 200 m. , 2-ply, 100% Norwegian wool.
Available in skeins of 100 g.
Knitting tension: 18 sts x 24 rounds = 10 x 10 cm on needle size 4.5 - 5 mm.We recommend hand washing the garments with mild wool soap followed by spinning in a washing machine before the garments are laid flat for drying.

Forgarn is a semi-finished yarn where the wool is carded and divided into threads, but it has not yet been spun. This Forgarn is wound up with 2 parallel strands, and it is knitted from both strands together.
Unspun yarn lacks the strength of finished spun yarn, making it 'see-through' and airy.
It is still great to knit with, and as soon as the yarn is knitted, it gains strength.
You can knit the Forgarn as it is, or with an extra strand of 1-ply/lace fingering or kidsilk for extra strength.
Forgarn can also be used for hand spinning, preferably as a base together with other fibers such as dog hair, rabbit hair or the like. Forgarn is delivered in wheels of approx. 180 - 220 g.

Length/weight: about 190 m per 100g

Gauge:

Needle 4: approx. 18 sts = 10 cm
Needle 5: approx. 16 sts = 10 cm
Needle 6: approx. 14 sts = 10 cm

Tips when knitting with Forgarn:
Forgarn is light and airy, but can also break easily, so you have to be careful when knitting. Fortunately, it is worth the effort: this special yarn makes for soft, warm, light and beautiful garments.∙ Forgarn consists of two parallel strands: it is preferably knitted with both strands together.
∙ Carefully remove a meter or two of yarn from the wheel before you start knitting, and make sure you keep doing this while knitting. If you continue to knit without pulling out, the yarn gains resistance and tears.
∙ The yarn will probably tear a few times, but then you can gently felt them back together by moistening two fingers and rubbing the threads together.
∙ If desired, you can use an extra thread for more strength: for example, a 1-ply from Ullcentrum or a strand of kidsilk. Of course, this wil create a thicker knit, so adjust your needle size and knitting tension accordingly.

As with all yarns, Forgarn also allows you to achieve different knitting tensions depending on which knitting needles you choose. The knitting tension determines whether the knitting will be sturdy and durable or looser and airier. Remember that knitting tension is different for each person, and you should knit a swatch to find out your desired knitting tension.
All knitting patterns in Troll, Blåne, Luna, Vidde and Varde are excellent to knit with Forgarn.

Fourteen yarns are already fully certified, meaning they are verifiably produced according to strict animal welfare and environmental protection standards. Furthermore, the GOTS seal guarantees fair wages, occupational safety and health, good working conditions, and social responsibility. All of this is audited annually.

BC Garn stands for natural and sustainable yarns that actively contribute to a sustainable and ethical fashion industry.

The traditional Danish company BC Garn was founded in 1972 by Bo Carstensen, who came from a family of weavers. The focus has always been on developing yarns from natural fibers in a wide range of colors. In the spring of 2018, Marianna and Bo handed over "their baby" to Britta and Carsten Kremke, who continue the yarn, color, and design range in the tradition of the Danish founders.

This yarn is made from 100% RAS-certified alpaca wool (CU 890756). Products certified according to the Responsible Alpaca Standard (RAS) contain alpaca wool fibers from farms that are independently certified according to animal welfare and land management requirements.
BC garn is one of the first yarn brands in the world to be certified with this standard. More information about RAS can be found on their website.

Babyalpaca is a beautiful yarn with an incredibly soft handle. The fine fibre of alpaca is hollow on the inside making very light whilst at the same time making it 5 times warmer than wool. The fibres are also strong and elastic. Babyalpaca is not scratchy (to most people) because the yarn does not contain lanolin and the fibre structure is smooth.

A luxury yarn, Babyalpaca has a wonderful softness and drape. It is suitable for all kinds of knitted garments, especially accessories worn next to skin such as scarves, shawls and summer garments.

Tip: Alpaca has a completely different type of fiber with different properties than Sheep's wool. Where Sheep's Wool is resilient and 'jumps back', Alpaca tends to hang or 'grow'. That is why it is extra important to knit a swatch and block it first, so that you get a good insight into the knitting tension. If necessary, you can then adjust needle size and/or size accordingly to achieve gauge. ∙ Originating and spun in Peru.

When launching the brand in 2012, Erika’s ethos was to keep things simple: to support British manufacturing where possible, to promote sustainable, natural fibres and to celebrate both traditional skills and modern innovation. They still have the same mission today with Erika’s ethos at the heart of everything they do, the Erika Knight brand has a much loved and quintessentially British aesthetic with designs and colours inspired by the landscape.

At Trollenwol we sell Erika Knight's Moorland Mohair sock wool. This is an original British yarn in which - instead of polyamide or nylon - a mix of 80% wool and 20% mohair has been chosen to make the socks more durable. The wool is also not superwash treated: this makes this a completely natural and environmentally friendly sock yarn. The wool of the Bluefaced Leicester sheep is, after merino wool, one of the softest and most popular wools. The beautiful colours reflect the British landscape.

The luxurious mohair added to the mixture ensures fluffy socks that last a long time and are made entirely of natural materials. This is not only good for your feet, but also for the environment. Bluefaced Leicester wool is the second most famous and popular wool on the market after Merino wool. Unfortunately, there are not nearly enough sheep to meet the current demand. As a result, the price of BFL has increased by about 300% in recent years. At Erika Knight, we are determined to make this sock yarn without superwash treatment and synthetic fibres.
Tip: Judge your knitting after washing & blocking! Due to the fine 2-ply twist, the knitting may look a bit uneven, but it becomes wonderfully even and beautiful after washing/blocking.
Because this yarn is not superwash treated, you can only wash it on wool wash program of your washing machine.Fjære, Norwegian sock wool: 80% Norwegian wool and 20% nylon (375 m/100 g)
Fjære sock yarn is a 2-ply carded yarn that is spun from Norwegian wool. To make the yarn extra strong/durable, it is reinforced with nylon. Very suitable for thin socks that need to last a long time. This yarn is not superwash-treated, so socks knitted in Fjære feel warm and light after blocking. The socks, like most other woollen garments, can be washed in the washing machine on the wool wash program.

Hjelholts Sokkegarn, Danish sock wool: 100% Danish wool (225 m/ 100 g)
This sock yarn is spun extra strong to prevent wear and tear of the yarn. It is a somewhat thicker sock yarn that is suitable for cold feet, the cold months or cold houses. Each skein (150 grams per skein!) contains enough yarn for a pair of socks up to size 45-47. This yarn is not superwash treated and can therefore be blocked very well and only be washed on the wool wash program in the washing machine.Raggsocksgarn, Swedish sock wool: 100% Swedish wool. (200 m/100 g) An extra strong yarn, spun from older Gotland sheep and sheep's wool from mixed Swedish landsheep. Suitable for extra thick, warm socks. This yarn is not superwash treated so blocking will give your socks a great finishing touch! They can be washed on the wool wash program in the washing machine.

Born in Britain, with a passion to support indigenous fibres, heritage mills and traditional crafts Erika Knight yarn is concise and considered with fibres and colours carefully selected so that you can be confident in choosing a beautiful, quality yarn for whatever you choose to create.

With wool roving, all wool fibers are carded in the same direction, so they form a thick roving together, hence the name.
Roving is particularly suitable for wet felting, where you alternately place strands of wool horizontally and vertically on top of each other. With cold and hot water, soap and by rubbing/friction, these wool fibers felt.

Our natural/undyed roving comes from northern Germany and is also suitable for doll making.

Our coloured roving is mulesing free merino wool from South America, carded in the Czech Republic, and with 21 microns it's very soft and pleasant to felt with (with children).

Woolfleece or carded wool batts consists of criss-crossed wool fibers. These are carded into "mats" or a carded fleece. Because these fibres are usually a bit shorter than roving and are all mixed together, woolfleece is particularly suitable for dry felting/needle felting.

Our carded fleece is undyed, and available in the different natural shades that are characteristic of different sheepbreeds found in Europe. Because of the soft and natural colors, this fleecel is particularly suitable for felting for example (birthday) crowns, seasonal table figures and animals.
For larger or 3D projects such as animal needle felting, we recommend using white woolroving as a base, and using the fleece wool in natural tones as a top layer. We have put together handy packages of 25 grams, which is a nice amount for most projects.
Our fleece wool comes from animals from Europe. Washed, processed and carded in Germany.

N.b. some fleeces are better suited for spinning than other: in general, fleece wool is not so suitable for the novice spinner, but an advanced spinner can work with it.
For suitable wool to spin with, we would like to refer you to our colleagues at Schaapjeswol.
Wet felting can be done with fleece wool, but roving works faster and more pleasantly.
