Workshop "Saint Nicholas" by Margriet Kraan - Atelier Margriet Kraan
During this one-day workshop, we will create a serene, warm Saint Nicholas figure from wool and felt. Not the commercial Sinterklaas, but a figure full of softness, simplicity, and an old-fashioned winter atmosphere. So, not a real mitre, but something that vaguely resembles it. A beautiful white beard is, of course, included.
Sinterklaas will receive a wooden seat made from a sawn-off tree trunk, a basket with plenty of fruit to hand out to the children, and a beautiful golden staff made from a somewhat gnarled branch. His big book has already been pre-felted by me, so you will receive that as well. If there are enough doll chairs in stock, you can purchase them on the spot for a small extra charge.
NB: This Sinterklaas requires 2 days of work time. This proved impossible for me to arrange logistically, so this has now become a one-day workshop. The price is higher than normal. Therefore, I will do extra preparatory work for you this time to give you a flying start. (think of frame, booklet, clothing)
We will build the Sinterklaas figurine together, step by step, and the styling can be decorated as richly as you like. There is plenty of gold thread, lace, and gemstone beads available.
Techniques we use: needle felting, sewing, wrapping, and—if you wish—embroidery as well.

Number of participants: 10 (this workshop will proceed with a minimum of 6 participants)

Cancellation policy for workshops & courses:
- The reservation for the workshop/course is only final after payment in the webshop. You can cancel free of charge up to four weeks in advance and receive a full refund.
- Up to two weeks in advance, you will receive 50% of the amount back.
- Starting two weeks before the workshop/course date, the full costs will be charged.
- If you can suggest someone to take your place in time, that is of course perfectly fine. Sometimes there is someone on the waiting list: please contact the person running the workshop or course in advance.
- If the workshop/course unexpectedly cannot take place, you will receive a full refund of the course fee.

- Do you follow a diet or have an allergy? Please let us know so that we can take this into account.
- All workshops are intended for adults, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
- Is the course or workshop you wish to attend fully booked? Then send an email to the relevant teacher to be placed on the waiting list, or to receive a message as soon as new dates are scheduled.
- In principle, all workshops are conducted in Dutch. Please contact the relevant instructor if you do not yet have a good knowledge of the Dutch language, or if your understanding is insufficient, discuss with him/her whether participation is advisable and/or what the possibilities are. In most cases, translating into English occasionally is not a problem for the teacher.
